Description
The Virgin and Child Tapestry by Kiko depicts the Madonna with Child, inspired by traditional sacred icons.
The name “Kiko” refers to Kiko Argüello, founder of the Neocatechumenal Way, who painted several religious icons, including the Virgin of the Way, inspired by the icon at the Monastery of Kikko in Cyprus.
The icon of the Virgin of the Way, also called Kikkotissa, is considered a sacred work and is said to have been painted by the Apostle Luke.
Kiko Argüello's version is characterized by a Byzantine style and strong religious symbolism. The original is kept in the Kikko Monastery, where it is covered by a silver cloak, a sign of its sacredness.
In this case in the elegant Italian-made Tapestry version.
