Description
Table depicting the Our Lady of Tenderness.
At the center of the table is the Virgin Mary, wearing a red and blue cloak, holding the baby Jesus in her arms.
Both have golden halos around their heads, which emphasize their holiness.
On either side of the Madonna are two angels, one on the left dressed in blue and one on the right dressed in red, both with wings and halos.
Above the head of the Madonna are the Greek letters “ΜΡ ΘΥ”, abbreviation of “Μήτηρ Θεοῦ” (Mother of God), and next to the head of Jesus are the letters “ΙϹ ΧϹ”, abbreviation of “Ιησοῦς Χριστός” (Jesus Christ).
The icon is decorated with bright colors and elaborate details, typical of Byzantine art, which give a sacred and solemn aura to the scene.
In this wooden panel, entirely crafted in Italy, the most modern dye transfer technologies have combined with ancient artisan techniques to create a one-of-a-kind product. The expert use of gold glazes, the embossed effect of the details, and the brilliance of the colors combine to create a unique piece capable of reviving and reinterpreting the masterpieces of sacred art.
