Description
The Madonna wears a blue garment, while the Child's clothes are green and red.
The subjects' faces feature very fine and accurate shading, and even the rendering of Baby Jesus' curls shows a very high attention to detail.
The son embraces his mother and their faces are brought together; this representation, a classic example of Byzantine iconography of the Eleousa typology, creates a very sweet image.
The mirror-gold background gives further emphasis to the subjects of the representation.
This icon is a lithograph on wood and finished with mirror gold leaf, while the halos, writings and borders are handcrafted.
The hook on the back allows it to be hung on the wall.
The certificate on the back of the icon attests to its provenance from Greece.
