Description

The tapestry represents the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.
In the center, Christ is depicted standing, with one hand raised and the other holding a banner with a cross. He is surrounded by a golden mandorla, a symbol of divine light. On either side, two angels in prayer accompany the scene.

Below him is an open tombstone with a red seal on it, and around it are four soldiers in various poses, some seemingly asleep, others surprised. The edge of the tapestry is embellished with floral motifs, typical of sacred textile decorations.

This tapestry is inspired by Perugino's Resurrection, a masterpiece from 1499/1500, housed in the Vatican Pinacoteca. Perugino, a Renaissance master, profoundly influenced sacred art with his grace and harmony.
