Description
This tapestry, inspired by the Triptych "Annunciation between Saints Ansanus and Margaret" (Detail) Simone Martini – Lippo Emmi, 1333 Florence, Uffizi Gallery. Tapestries became symbols of power and wealth: kings, nobles, and church leaders commissioned preparatory drawings from the most famous painters as a celebration of their prowess and, as in this case, as reproductions of sacred scenes.
Italian manufacturing.
