Description
Golden oak veneered table depicting Saint Rita of Cascia.
Rita of Cascia, born Margherita Lotti, was an Italian nun from the hermit monastery of Santa Maria Maddalena. Beatified by Pope Urban VIII in 1626, she was canonized by Pope Leo XIII in 1900.
This wooden panel depicts Saint Rita of Cascia kneeling in prayer before an altar.
Saint Rita wears a black monastic habit with a white veil.
In front of her is an open book, probably a prayer book or a Bible, resting on a lectern.
On the altar there is a crucifix with the figure of Jesus crucified.
Above Saint Rita, in the sky, there are two little angels who seem to be observing the scene.
On the floor, near the altar, there are some flowers, including roses.
In this wooden panel, entirely made in Italy, the most modern dye transfer technologies have combined with ancient artisan techniques to create a one-of-a-kind product. The expert use of gold glazes, the embossed effect of the details, and the brilliance of the colors combine to create a unique piece capable of reviving and reinterpreting the masterpieces of sacred art.
