The icon depicts the Holy Family, composed of three central figures: Mary, Joseph, and the Baby Jesus. Mary is depicted wearing a red cloak and a green and gold headdress, while Joseph wears a blue cloak. The Baby Jesus is in the center, dressed in a yellow and green robe.
The background of the icon is gold and there are inscriptions in Greek around the figures:

• “Ο Άγιος Ιωσήφ ο Μνήστωρ” (Saint Joseph the Betrothed)
• “ΜΡ ΘΥ” (short for “Μήτηρ Θεού” meaning “Mother of God”)
