Our Lady of Guadalupe, also known as Our Lady of Guadalupe, is a title given to the Virgin Mary following an apparition in Mexico in 1531. According to tradition, Mary appeared to Juan Diego Cuauhtlatoatzin, an Aztec Indian who converted to Christianity, on Tepeyac Hill, near Mexico City.
Our Lady of Guadalupe is venerated as the patroness and queen of all Spanish-speaking peoples and the American continent.
Her feast day is celebrated on December 12, the day of her last apparition.
