STATUE OF SAINT FRANCIS OF ASSISI.
The statue represents Saint Francis of Assisi, patron saint of Italy.
Saint Francis is depicted wearing a simple brown habit, tied at the waist with a cord with three knots, which symbolize the Franciscan vows of poverty, chastity and obedience;
Two little birds are perched on him and one at his feet, to represent his love and respect for all living creatures.
The resin statue is handcrafted and hand-painted by Neapolitan master sculptors in Italy.

Francis of Assisi, born Giovanni di Pietro di Bernardone, was an Italian religious man and poet;
deacon and founder of the order that later took his name, he was proclaimed a saint by Pope Gregory IX in 1228, and declared, together with Saint Catherine of Siena, the principal patron saint of Italy on 18 June 1939 by Pope Pius XII. His liturgical memorial is celebrated throughout the Catholic Church on 4 October.
Known for his dedication to poverty, peace and the protection of nature.
