Saint Michael the Archangel is an archangel in the Roman Catholic and Orthodox traditions. In the Anglican and Lutheran faiths, he is called "Saint Michael the Archangel" (the archangel par excellence), or more briefly "Saint Michael." In the Eastern Orthodox and Eastern Orthodox traditions, he is called "Taxiarch Archangel Michael," or more briefly "Archangel Michael."
